Does HMS certify Butterball?
Not at present. Butterball is not certified or monitored by HMS, and HMS has not examined how Butterball turkey is produced, so HMS cannot describe it as Zabiha Halal.
Why HMS cannot vouch for it
HMS certifies only what it checks. Meat is Halal when a permissible animal is slaughtered by valid hand Zabiha, alive, with Bismillah pronounced for it individually, and when that identity survives every later stage of processing and packing. A brand you have bought for years is not evidence of any of this; why machine slaughter is not Zabiha and product-specific certification explain the gap.
Verify the specific product: certified items carry the HMS mark and appear in the HMS certified directory, and certification may cover only part of a range.
HMS certification is also time limited, so even a certified business has to keep meeting the conditions it was granted under. Check that the entry you are relying on is current rather than trusting a photograph of a certificate or an old social-media post.
When in doubt, leave it
Do not gamble with your deen. If it is not verified, leave it on the shelf. That is the Prophetic guidance:
“Leave that which causes you doubt for that which does not cause you doubt.”
