What HMS can tell you
Does HMS certify Texas Roadhouse?
Not currently. Texas Roadhouse has not been inspected or certified by HMS, and HMS has not traced the beef served at Texas Roadhouse to its source. HMS cannot describe it as Zabiha Halal.
Why HMS cannot vouch for it
HMS certifies only what it checks. A sit-down kitchen has to satisfy more than one question: hand Zabiha slaughter with Bismillah on each animal for every meat category, separation from non-Halal items, and recipes that do not rely on impermissible ingredients. Read kitchens serving both Halal and non-Halal meat and wine used in cooking for the detail.
Any certified Texas Roadhouse branch would be published in the HMS certified directory, because HMS certifies addresses rather than brand names.
If you ever see the HMS name or mark connected with this business, check it against the directory before you rely on it. An entry that is not there has not been confirmed by HMS, and you are welcome to contact HMS about anything that looks unclear.
When in doubt, leave it
Convenience is never a reason to eat what is doubtful. The Prophet ﷺ said:
“Leave that which causes you doubt for that which does not cause you doubt.”
Protect your deen: avoid Texas Roadhouse and look for HMS Certified only. A certified restaurant has had its meat, suppliers and kitchen checked, so you can eat with a clear heart. Find an HMS Certified place near you before you order.
Answers in the Halal Knowledge Center reflect the standards followed by Halal Monitoring Services (HMS), which operates as part of the Shariah Board of America. HMS certifies only what it checks.
