The full answer
Halal means lawful or permissible according to Islamic law. When it comes to food, Halal is not limited to avoiding pork. The ingredients, source of the food, method of slaughter, preparation and possible contamination with Haram substances can all matter.
Allah commands believers to eat what is lawful and pure. Choosing Halal is therefore part of a Muslim's obedience to Allah.
